English Premiership rugby club Worcester Warriors have signed former Bulls back Francois Hougaard until the end of the season.
Hougaard was expected to feature for the Bulls in Super Rugby but instead he will now turn out for Worcester in England.
Hougaard's club career began at Western Province before moving to Pretoria to play for Super Rugby side the Bulls.
Hougaard played for the Blue Bulls from 2008 to 2015 and has concentrated on Sevens since last season.
The former Springbok has helped the SA Sevens team to the top of the World Sevens Series where they sit level on points with Fiji and New Zealand, after winning the Cape Town leg of the tournament and finishing as runners-up in Wellington to New Zealand.
Hougaard will therefore not be available for selection for the next four World Series tournaments, in Las Vegas, Vancouver, Hong Kong and Singapore. At Worcester, he will be reunited with former Bulls and Springbok team mates Wynand Olivier and Dewald Potgieter.
The Springbok scrumhalf is currently on a one-year contract with the Springbok Sevens side and will return to the squad in May, in time to be considered for selection for the last two World Series tournaments of the season, in Paris (14 and 15 May) and a week later at Twickenham in London.
